Hush Street is tracking what’s being built in Hunts Point and Longwood, the neighborhoods of Bronx Community Board 2.
Hunts Point’s biggest projects are public. The city signed an agreement in December 2025 to rebuild the Hunts Point Produce Market as an all-electric facility with $405 million in funding, and a new Metro-North station is part of the Penn Station Access project, though it is expected to open after the other three new Bronx stations. NYCEDC removed the Vernon C. Bain jail barge in 2025 to make way for a marine terminal.
Housing is a mix of large city-backed affordable projects and smaller private buildings. On the former Spofford juvenile detention site, The Peninsula’s second phase opened its housing lottery in 2026, and The Doe Fund broke ground on a supportive housing building nearby in August. In Longwood, a 14-story, 251-unit building at 1051 Whitlock Avenue leads a steady run of mid-rise infill.
Where DOB records and press reports disagree on heights or unit counts, both are given. A permit is not treated as proof that construction has started.
