Hush Street is tracking what’s being built in Forest Hills, Rego Park and Kew Gardens.

Along Queens Boulevard, a series of single-site private rezonings would replace one-story retail strips with towers of up to 21 stories. One was approved in 2025, and others are in public review, where neighbors have won concessions: Community Board 6 approved the Yellowstone Boulevard plan only after it was cut to nine stories, the Queens Ledger reported. The biggest single site is the former Vornado lot at 61-06 Junction Boulevard, where a new owner has filed for roughly 630 apartments.

Several mid-rise rentals and condos finished in 2025 and 2026, including 120 affordable homes on Woodhaven Boulevard. In Kew Gardens, the city is replacing the demolished Queens Detention Center with a borough-based jail that City & State reported is expected in 2031. Public work includes a $39 million Rego Park library, a high school annex and a rebuild of the Forest Hills LIRR station.

Where DOB records and press reports disagree on heights or unit counts, both are given. A permit is not treated as proof that construction has started.
